Spotlight vs Arcade at a glance

These two tools answer different questions. Arcade asks "how do we let people try the product without signing up?" Spotlight asks "how do we tell the story of this product in a minute, with sound, for a launch?" The table shows where that leads.

Interactive demo or launch video: which do you need?

An interactive demo shines when the visitor is already interested and wants to poke around: on a pricing page, inside a docs article, or in a sales follow-up. The visitor sets the pace and chooses the path.

A launch video has a different job. It must catch someone scrolling past on Product Hunt, X, LinkedIn or YouTube, explain the product in seconds and make them want to click. Feeds autoplay video; they do not autoplay click-through demos. That is why launch-day assets are almost always videos, with captions for people watching on mute.

Captions matter here as well: Spotlight burns them into the video and gives you an .srt file, so the story works with the sound off.

Arcade can export MP4 and GIF on paid plans, which is useful. But an exported click-through is still structured as a click-through — it is not a scripted film with a hook, voiceover and music. If the video is the thing you need, start from a tool built for video.

Where Spotlight is different

  • Story first. Spotlight reads your website into a Product Profile — audience, pain points, key features, differentiators, proof and CTA — and the AI director writes a script and plans scenes from it.
  • Made for sound-on and sound-off viewing. AI voiceover, AI-generated music ducked under the voice, sound effects, and burned-in captions plus an .srt file.
  • Every launch format. Export 16:9, 9:16, 1:1 and 4:5 MP4 in 1080p from one project — landing page, Reels, Shorts, LinkedIn and Product Hunt covered.
  • Cinematic editing. Camera moves, zoom-to-region, highlights, animated cursor paths, device mockups, feature grids, stat and quote scenes, and 11 transitions.
  • Simple pricing for one launch. A one-off €39/$39 Launch Pass covers one HD video with no subscription and no seats to count.

And because Spotlight reads your website first, the video's message matches your landing page: the same tagline, features, proof and call to action, captured in a Product Profile you can reuse for every future video.

When to choose Arcade

Arcade is the right tool when:

  • You want visitors to interact with your product before signing up — clicking through a flow rather than watching one.
  • You are building a product-led funnel and want demos embedded on landing pages, in docs or in onboarding.
  • Several people on a marketing team need their own seats. Spotlight does not offer team seats yet.
  • You need lots of short demos across features, and interactivity matters more than narration, music or cinematic polish.

Spotlight does not make interactive click-through demos at all, so if that format is the goal, Arcade (or tools like Supademo and Storylane) is where to look.

Using Arcade and Spotlight together

Many SaaS teams end up with both formats, because they serve different points in the funnel:

  • Top of funnel: a 45–60 second launch video from Spotlight for Product Hunt, social posts and the hero of your homepage. See the landing page hero video use case.
  • Middle of funnel: an Arcade demo further down the page or in docs, for visitors who want to explore.

The video earns the click; the interactive demo lets interested visitors go deeper. Spotlight's version history and fast re-exports (only changed scenes are re-rendered) make it easy to keep the video in step as the product changes.

Verdict

Choose Arcade for interactive demos people click through. Choose Spotlight when you need a launch video people watch — scripted, voiced, captioned and sized for every feed. If you are unsure, ask where the asset will live: in a feed or launch post, it should be a video.

Questions, answered

Can Spotlight make interactive demos like Arcade?

No. Spotlight makes videos only. It has a "walkthrough" scene type and animated cursor paths with clicks, so a video can show a flow step by step, but viewers watch it rather than click through it.

Can Arcade export a video?

At the time of writing Arcade offers MP4 and GIF export on paid plans — check their site for current details. An exported click-through is a recording of the demo flow, not a scripted film with voiceover and music.

Which is better for a Product Hunt launch?

For the gallery and launch post, a video is the usual choice because it autoplays and tells the story quickly. See our Product Hunt launch video guide. An interactive demo can still sit on your website for visitors who click through.

Is Spotlight cheaper than Arcade?

For a single launch, Spotlight's €39/$39 one-off Launch Pass avoids a subscription. Arcade's Pro plan is about $32/month at the time of writing (check their pricing page). For ongoing work, compare Spotlight's Creator and Studio plans with Arcade's per-seat pricing.

Does Spotlight support team seats?

Not yet. Spotlight accounts are single-user today. The Studio plan is built for agencies and prolific builders, with 12 HD videos a month and up to 3 exports rendering in parallel.
