Screen Recording to Launch Video
Upload the screen recordings you already have. Spotlight’s AI director finds the moments that matter, frames them with zooms and highlights, and builds them into a launch film with voiceover, music and captions.
What it does
A raw screen recording is honest but rarely persuasive: the cursor wanders, the interesting bit is tiny in one corner, and there’s a long pause while something loads. Spotlight’s screen recording to video workflow keeps the honesty and fixes the rest.
You upload recordings made with any tool. The AI director — a vision model — watches each one, identifies the key screens and works out where each feature is on screen. It then cuts the clips into scenes, adds camera moves and zoom-to-region focus on the parts that matter, writes narration that explains what the viewer is seeing, and places it all into a story with an opening hook and a clear call to action.
How it works
- Record your key flows. One short clip per feature or task is ideal.
- Paste your URL (optional). Spotlight builds a Product Profile from your site so the script knows your audience, benefits and tone.
- Upload the clips. MP4 or MOV up to 500 MB each, plus any screenshots (up to 20 MB).
- Get a first cut. The AI director studies every clip and plans the scenes — video clip, walkthrough and UI demo scenes for footage, framed by title, feature grid and end card scenes.
- Refine. Adjust where zooms land, add highlights or cursor paths, change the voiceover, then export 1080p MP4.

What you control
- Trim and timing. Shorten any scene, reorder beats and set the pacing of the whole film.
- Camera. Camera moves and zoom-to-region focus, so a small button in a big window fills the frame when it matters.
- Highlights. Spotlight, ring, blur and underline to direct attention to one element.
- Overlays. Draggable text, badge, arrow and logo overlays to label what’s happening.
- Framing. Device frames and corner radius, background, grain and vignette, so footage sits in a designed frame rather than floating edge to edge.
- Sound. AI voiceover, music ducked under the voice, sound effects like clicks and whooshes, and captions.
Who it’s for
Anyone who can record their product but doesn’t want to spend days in a video editor: founders with a launch date, product marketers announcing a new feature, developer-tool teams showing a CLI or IDE flow, and agencies turning client recordings into finished films. If you already use a polished recorder, Spotlight is the step after it — it plans, writes and finishes the film your recording becomes part of. Our comparison hub covers how Spotlight fits alongside recording tools.
Tips for better screen recordings
- Record at full resolution and as large a window as practical, so zooms stay sharp.
- Use clean, realistic demo data. No lorem ipsum, no real customer names, no personal emails.
- Hide distractions. Turn off notifications, close unrelated tabs and tidy your bookmarks bar.
- Move the mouse slowly and deliberately. Pause briefly before each click so the viewer can follow.
- Record short clips, not one long take. A 15-second clip per feature is far easier to arrange than a 6-minute session.
- Skip the waiting. If something loads slowly, cut the wait — or record again with a faster path.
