Website to Video: Turn Your URL into a Launch Film
Paste your URL and Spotlight reads your site, captures desktop and mobile screenshots, and builds a Product Profile — the brief your launch film is written from.
What website to video does
Your website already says what your product is, who it’s for and why it’s better. Spotlight’s website to video step puts that work to use. Paste your URL and the AI reads the site the way a good copywriter would, then writes it down as a structured Product Profile.
The profile covers your name, tagline, one-liner, category, audience and personas, pain points, key features and their benefits, differentiators, how it works, proof found on the site, a pricing note, your call to action and your tone of voice. It also picks up your brand colours, fonts and logo — and captures desktop and mobile screenshots of your site automatically.
That profile is the brief for your launch film. The AI director writes the script from it, and the Brand style preset uses its colours and fonts so the video looks like your product from the first frame.
How it works
- Paste your URL. Use your homepage or the landing page you want the video to match.
- Review the Product Profile. Check the one-liner, audience and key features. Edit anything that’s out of date or too vague — every scene is written from this.
- Add materials (optional but recommended). The automatic screenshots are enough for a first cut. Add your own screenshots (up to 20 MB) and screen recordings (MP4/MOV up to 500 MB) to show the product itself, not just the marketing site.
- Generate the first cut. The AI director studies every asset, plans the story and scenes, and gives you a first cut in a couple of minutes.
- Edit and export. Adjust scenes, voiceover, music and style, then export a 1080p MP4 in 16:9, 9:16, 1:1 or 4:5.
What you control
- The profile. Every field is editable. Save it to your account and pick it from the selector next time, or make a one-off video without saving one.
- Which screens appear. Swap any auto-captured screenshot for your own, or replace it with a screen recording.
- The story. Rewrite lines yourself, ask the AI to rewrite a scene, or give a whole-film instruction like “lead with the integrations”.
- The look. Start from the Brand style built from your site, or choose Keynote, Aurora, Editorial, Precision, Kinetic or Clean and fine-tune palette, fonts, background and pacing.
- The format. Export the same film for your site, YouTube and social — see the social video resizer.
Who it’s for
Website to video is the fastest route for anyone who has a live site but no video yet: founders preparing a Product Hunt launch, SaaS teams who want a landing page hero video, and agencies onboarding a new client who want a draft before the kickoff call. Because the profile is reusable, it pays off again for every feature announcement and changelog video you make afterwards.
Tips for a better result
- Use the page that sells best. If your homepage is a general overview but a specific landing page has sharper copy, paste that one.
- Tighten the one-liner. The AI leans on it for the hook. One clear sentence beats a paragraph.
- Correct the audience. “Teams” is vague; “solo accountants who invoice 20+ clients a month” gives the script something to say.
- Add product footage. A marketing site shows promises; recordings of the product show proof. Even three short clips make a big difference.
- Keep proof honest. If the site lists customer logos or numbers, check they’re current before they appear on screen.
